School Wind Band at the Scottish Concert Band Festival 2013

Harris Academy Wind Band, under the direction of their Conductor, Miss Audrey Bird, took part in the national stage of the Scottish Concert Band Festival competition in Perth Concert Hall on Saturday 23rd March 2013, and were honoured with the award of a Silver Plus Certificate. Previously, they had been awarded a Gold Certificate in the regional stage of the competition which took place in Cults Academy, Aberdeen on Sunday 18th November 2012, and this secured for them an invitation to the national stage.

The Pupils faced stiff competition from other schools across Scotland, and are the only Band from Dundee to perform in any part of the competition, so they have to be commended for their great effort and outstanding achievement.

SchiParticipation in this competition was an expensive undertaking and so the FP Association was pleased to donate the sum of £247 to assist with the cost of music, the competition entrance fees, and transport to and from the venues. The Pupils themselves raised additional funds washing cars on an In-Service day.
